The Tara tree grows around dryer areas near the coast of Sahul. The gum of the tree is harvested to creating a potent sleeping poison called Culfuin.

Tara trees can grow between 2 to 5 meters tall. It has a dark grey bark covered in prickly thorns. Its leaves are 6 to 8 centimetres in length and have a dark green colouration. The tara tree is renown for its beautiful flowers, which can range from yellow to orange on the same tree. These flowers grow on long strips and each have 4 pedals which are 1.5 to 4 centimetres long.
