Long before the squabbling of the gods, even before the fall of the frozen dew drop which birthed Az, an being older than any other ruled the universe. This being is known as the Rainbow Serpent who works to make sure that all of the universe remains in balance. The Rainbow Serpent created the ziez to help him with keeping the dream and the waking world in check.
The Rainbow Serpent offered his service as an adviser to the brothers Tenno and Konsulh when they killed Az and claimed ownership over the universe in order to keep them in check and to prevent them from disturbing the natural balance of things.
Description[]
The Rainbow Serpent is an colossal serpentine with a body which shines in every colour of the colour spectrum. He flies between realms through the reflection of Wuriun on the surface of lakes at high noon. When he does so he leaves an afterimage, better known as the rainbow. The sound of the Rainbow Serpent flying is said to represent the sound of a turndun.
Worship[]
The Rainbow Serpent is traditionally not worshipped to the same extend as the Azen, for he is not a leading member of Tenno's pantheon and but an adviser of the high god instead. For this reason he is often worshipped in the same temples as Tenno himself.
Druidic circles and smaller communities on the other hand have recognised the power that the Rainbow Serpent posses and his veterancy over the younger gods. They worship him as the true protector of creation and as he who keeps the balance between the dreaming and the waking. To them the Azen are still important, but as aspects of nature rather than individuals.
