Setting

In the heat of the sun, two pairs of clawed feet race over the red soil. Behind them they drag a archaeologist holding a small object covered in green and orange crystals. The birds move as fast as their feet allow, but still they can't outrun the horde of snarling gnolls chasing them. They growl something at the rider in their bestial tongue, who answers them with a throw of his trusty boomerang. No matter how many times he wacks his pursuers; he still can't put any distance between them. Suddenly the entire wagon shakes, the gnolls have caught one of the terror birds pulling the wagon. They drag it down to the ground, and with that the entire wagon falls over.

They find the gnome helplessly laying on his back in a bush of spinifex. Every one of his bones broken by the impact. The hyena-man share a chuckle between each other and proceed to bludgeon him to death for the theft of their sacred artefact. As the life drains from him and he proceeds to pass into the Dream, the gnome takes one more look upon the land he called home. He sees its orange sun setting over the rugged bush and says goodbye to Sahul.
