Leviathans are a group of eldritch abominations that that sprawl from the dream and rule over it. These creatures are formed and moulded from the deepest thoughts and dreams of the waking world. Leviathans generally all have bizarre anatomies, strange abilities, otherworldly mindsets.
Each powerful leviathan manages their own part of the dream and makes sure that it works as an well fuelled machine. The make sure the death inside find rest and that the worthy intelligent races eventually get elevated to the same plane of existence as they are, thou this has the unfortunate consequence that some may go mad with the insight they have gained. They are natural enemies of the behemoths, who they see as uncivilised beasts that have to be tamed.
History[]
In the ancient past the first Leviathan was created by the high god Tenno as a challenge for the hunting goddess Maka. This leviathan managed to wound the goddess and escaped into the dream. From within the dream he then began to mould thoughts and ideas into new leviathans, creating the species that we know today.
