Dire Wombats, also known as diprotodon, are giant relatives of the wombat used to pull carts and ploughs in Sahul.

Description[]

The dire wombat superficially resembles its smaller relative with similar inward turned feet and stance. However the dire wombat is many times larger than the regular wombat and has much sturdier legs. Its feet also lack claws capable of digging burrows. The dire wombat reaches 2 metres in height and 2,5 metres from snout to tail. Dire wombats weight more than a ton.

Domestication[]

Dire Wombats re commonly used to pull carts and caravans across the bush. They are very calm and unlikely to get spooked by any sudden movement, but also very sluggish and won't get you anywhere fast. Dire Wombats where first tamed by the halflings who took a liking to these magnificent creatures. They feel an kinship with them and halfling children still occasionally jump on their backs to ride them around for fun.
